"The following article iconographically analyzes the content of the Lienzo de Analco, a historical-cartographic manuscript produced by the indigenous allies of the conquerors of the Sierra Norte de Oaxaca. It narrates the multifaceted history of the conquest of the sierra during a course of at least five decades, beginning with the dual entry of Figueroa and Barrios, in 1526. It illustrates a detailed panorama of the historical and social conditions of the region, serving as a unifying document and merit of service to indigenous people who otherwise found themselves disenfranchised and alienated by colonial authority."
