Tascaluça

This is a comissioned illustration of Tascaluça, Paramount Chief of the Atahachi cheifdom, one of the most powerful of the southern section of the Mississippi Basin. A formidable man, both in his physique and in his composure, it was he who confronted the conqueror Hernando de Soto around 1540, in what is now the state of Alabama, USA.
